Brindale is family owned and its legacy dates back to 1918 in London, UK when, after the first World War, brothers Benjamin and Edmund (Ted) Daniell, together with Charlie Bird, founded Brindale Motor and General Sheetmetal Works.
The name Brindale came from the surnames of the 3 founders: Bird and Daniell. What started in a small workshop quickly grew into Brindale Engineering, known for skilled craftsmanship in radiator grills, emblem design, and pioneering sheet metal work.
Over generations, the business evolved from engineering to automation and robotics in New Zealand. Rebranded as Brindale Design, we played a key role in production improvement, as well as new innovations, for esteemed manufacturers like Fonterra, Montana Wines and Buckley Systems. Today, Brindale Limited integrates a century-long legacy of innovation and excellence with over two decades of global scrap metal trading expertise.
Brindale Limited is a New Zealand–based scrap metal trading company focused on the buying and selling of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. Our aim is to provide transparent and compliant processes that simplify trade for recyclers, suppliers, mills, and smelters. With a strong presence in the APAC region including India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. We connect local suppliers with consistent overseas demand.

In the 1930s, Brindale Engineering were panel beaters for one of the legendary ‘Blue Bird’ vehicles that set a land speed record under Sir Malcolm Campbell, first man to break 300mph.

Our goal is straightforward: to create value at every stage of the trade and strengthen long-term partnerships. We operate with professionalism, discipline, and transparency, ensuring every transaction is compliant and reliable, keeping value within New Zealand while serving global markets.
At Brindale, we specialise in the trading of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, connecting recyclers, suppliers, mills, and smelters across international markets. Our role spans the entire supply chain from sourcing and procurement to inspection, logistics, and compliance ensuring smooth, reliable, and transparent transactions.
We supply ferrous scrap such as Heavy Melting Scrap (HMS), shredded scrap, cast iron, and busheling, which are used in the production of steel for automobiles, construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing. The materials we deliver are melted down into essential products including flat-rolled steel, rebar, and structural beams.
In the non-ferrous segment, we trade aluminium, copper, brass, zinc, lead, and stainless steel scrap. These are essential for smelters, refiners, and ingot makers who transform them into new raw materials for industries worldwide.
Through strong networks across APAC; including India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, Brindale delivers consistent supply to meet the growing global demand for recycled raw materials. By creating value at each stage of the trade, we strengthen long-term partnerships and support both the recycling economy and sustainable growth in the steel and metals industry.
Our services extend beyond scrap. By managing the import and export process, we ensure complete handling of sourcing, documentation, shipping, and regulatory compliance. This full-cycle approach provides mills, smelters, and recyclers with confidence that every shipment will be delivered on time, inspected, and compliant with international standards.
